![]() I immediately noticed my speeds dropped from my previous ISP from 800 down to 250ish and 500-600 up. I had Ziply come out and install Gigabit internet. ![]() Apparently, this is still an issue 2 years later. We have a few areas where we are urgently adding capacity to add resiliency during a fiber cut but that does not cause an issue unless there is a cut and by winter a number of major areas will be up to three-way redundant on the feeds to COs. I can categorically say, we don't have any congestion from the peering edge to our OLTs. I don't know why the techs are saying what they are, I'll see what we can do to get that message more consistent. That being said, we have had zero indications of slow uploads being in the cards so if you are seeing slow uploads the problem is likely something else. All OLTs connect with bundles of 10G to Juniper MX480 routers that are the default gateway that users see and those are linked to the core by large numbers of 10Gs or 100Gs, the core is basically all Nx100G at this point. Yep, when connected to a Calix OLT specifically (we have several OLT vendors and that is why there is inconsistency between reports with the same CPE), we are working on that testing this week. Have I missed something, has anyone found a solution to this speed issue? I did not see any real solution to the problem if the speeds are slow at the ONT. I did search this forum and found that others are having a similar problem with speed on the Gigabit connection. At that point I decided to politely end the conversation with Ziply support as I did not believe it would yield any positive results in the short term. I mentioned to support that this speed issue is somewhat widespread to many users, but support acted like they never heard of this speed issue before. Support then wanted to run diagnostics remotely through the new router to confirm the speed issue. Support wanted me to get a Ziply supplied router and put it in place of my non Ziply supplied router. I made it very clear to them that the issue with slow speed was happening at the ONT with a directly connected laptop. Today I called Ziply support and explained the issue in detail. No matter what I do I cannot achieve speeds any faster than what I have listed above. ![]() I have tried various speed testing sites including and all return similar results. ![]() I am testing my connection both at my router and ONT (FOG 421) using a Cat 6 cable to my Windows 10 laptop. Most of the time the download speeds are slower than the upload speeds. The download speeds are anywhere from 190 to 500 Mbps and the upload speeds are between 380 to sometimes 650 Mbps. The speed was advertised as a Gigabit, but most of the time I come nowhere close to that speed. I had Ziply Fiber internet installed on July 3rd of this year. ![]()
